Before you register with a Rainbow Club, you might be interested to know more about how our classes are structured. RCA aims to provide children who cannot participate in mainstream Learn To Swim classes with the opportunity to learn to swim.
Our first aim is to ensure that children are water safe and water confident and then to teach them the usual swimming strokes. Each lesson is one half hour long and usually one on one. The children who swim with Rainbow Club often require more supervision in the water than normal, which prohibits them from participating in mainstream classes, so they will be placed in small classes only where the instructors believe that the children will benefit from the small class.
Each family is required to pay a membership fee of $50 per term (per child) for membership of RCA.
Each local Club is managed by the parents of the children swimming with that Club, under the auspices of RCA. If you are interested to register for one of our Rainbow Clubs, please follow the check list of what to do.
1. Determine which club you would like to register for.
2. Download the Registration form for the relevant club. Registration forms are available to download in the clubs section next to each clubs’s name.
3. Complete the registration form. Please ensure you provide a mobile contact number and email address, as this is how the Parent Club Committee will contact you to advise you when a place becomes available.
4. To finalise your registration, you must include a copy of your child’s diagnosis, or other document with evidence to meet our registration criteria. A copy of a letter from Centrelink confirming receipt of a Carers Allowance is sufficient, alternatively a written report from your child’s health care professional.
5. Once we receive the completed form and your documents, we can place your child on the waiting list for a Club. Unfortunately if you do not send any evidence documentation, we are unable to complete your registration.
